As you would expect from an EV from the electronics giant, the EV prototype has 45 cameras and sensors placed inside and outside the vehicle.  Coupled with 800 TOPS of maximum ECU processing power, the Afeela concept is more than a new way of thinking for electric vehicles.  The EV features complete next-gen software suites, from Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon digital chassis for ADAS and telematics solutions, to a collaboration with Epic Games on the entertainment side.

The concept itself is a relatively standard EV design with a low profile and aerodynamic wheels.  Sony and Honda claim the EV concept is here to "create a new value standard for mobility" and don't want you to think of the car in traditional terms like power and performance.  Instead, the focus here should be on “software, networks, and user experiences.”  So areas where Sony has experience.

The concept's digital features are subject to change with over-the-air updates, but initial statements from Afeela include anticipated claims about autonomous driving and other connectivity features.  Level 3 automatic driving is offered "in limited conditions", with Level 2 driver assistance available in more situations, including city driving.

Sony also plans to open up the electric vehicle to partnerships with customers and "our automotive industry partners," Sony said, with Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon Digital Chassis System-on-a-Chip providing the technological support for that capability.  Back on planet Earth, we can see that the Afeela concept's exterior uses a "media bar" to communicate with people nearby, and the simple interior serves to "envelop the occupants in a soft cocoon."
