Draco Dragon: 2000 HP Super SUV with incredible performance

All the figures are impressive: 2,000 hp, 500 kW of charging power, 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, 320 km/h...

The new "Super SUV" is coming to hit the highly competitive sports SUV segment.  It's called the Draco Dragon, and as its name suggests, it's quite intimidating given its technical characteristics.

The model will reach our roads in a few years, in 2026, if the manufacturer's strategy does not change, but it already promises to crush its rivals (at least those that currently exist) with accelerations that rival the Rimac Nevera, while  it can carry the whole small family.

A family that takes your breath away

Drako Dragon's lines were drawn by Lowie Vermeersch of the design studio GranStudio.  The SUV (the first in the world with a body made entirely of carbon fiber) takes the 2019 GTE model and develops it with "square" lines that look similar to certain elements of the Lamborghini Urus and Lotus Eleuter models.

The sleek design of the front contrasted with the 'slashed' rear, while the Falcon doors allowed the B-pillar to be removed for easier access to the deck.  The proportions are impressive: the dragon is 5.05 meters long, 2.05 meters wide and 1.60 meters high.  Meanwhile, the ground clearance varies from 16 to 31 cm depending on the driving mode.

In addition to the futuristic-style LED headlights, the Draco has additional optics mounted on the roof to improve visibility in the most difficult driving conditions.  To reduce weight and carbon footprint, many body parts are made from natural fibers and recycled plastics.

    Like in the movies

All four passengers are accommodated in an environment that is as comfortable as it is forward looking, with extensive use of leather and carbon fibre.  The most impressive is the dashboard, where there is a hexagonal steering wheel and a giant screen of 17.1 inches, through which information, entertainment and all driving modes can be managed.

In front of the driver is a digital instrument panel with configurable graphics, while the few physical controls in the cabin (indicators, wipers, lights and horn) are on the steering wheel.

The Drako DriveOS technology platform is based on a kind of "supercomputer" that manages all the vehicle's features.  From infotainment to battery management and the ADAS system, everything is handled in nanoseconds, making the chassis lighter and simpler.
Draco says he's also done a lot of work in cybersecurity and connectivity, to the point where software can be updated remotely, completely securely, without going through a workshop.
Speaking of architecture, the Dragon relies on a GTE drive system with four electric motors, one at each wheel, capable of transmitting torque instantly and precisely according to driving situations.

The Dragon can accept up to 500 kW charging power and thus go from 10 to 80% in 10 minutes.  This gives it a range of up to 540km, with the EPA certification cycle stating that this model can travel up to 676km on a single charge.  The "problem" is that currently the world's fastest publicly available charging station provides a maximum output of 360 kW.  By 2026, things will undoubtedly change.

    Advertised performance is exceptional:

a total output of 2,000 hp allows the 2.2-ton SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds, with a standing start from 0 to 400 meters in just 9 seconds.  above 320 km / h.  The braking department is taken care of by carbon ceramic discs 420 mm in front with 10-piston calipers and 410 mm in the rear with 6-piston calipers.
The Dragon will be manufactured in the United States.  Annual production seems quite ambitious, with Draco announcing that 5,000 units will leave the factory annually.  The first deliveries are scheduled for 2026. Although the launch is still far away, the Drako has already opened the pre-order stage, with a base price that will be around $290,000, which is about 279,400 euros.
