OPEL ASTRA ELECTRIC (2023): THE COMPACT AND THE ESTATE FINALLY GO ELECTRIC
Opel unveils the new electric version of its compact, the Astra. Also available as a station wagon, this zero-emission variant is more powerful than combustion engines, while offering a range of several hundred kilometres. We take you on a tour of the owner.
This is a first in the history of the model, and a new step in the electrification of the German manufacturer. The Opel Astra finally goes electric, with a new version simply called Electric. This variation of the sixth generation of the Astra is available in a compact five-door body as in a Sports Tourer station wagon.
This electric Opel Astra has a 156 horsepower (115 kW) engine for 270 Nm of torque. The engine is associated with a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery. Housed in the underbody, it provides a range of 416 kilometers according to the WLTP certification cycle. Opel announces an average consumption of 14.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, still according to WLTP standards.
- It recharges in half an hour
Charging the electric Astra is possible from 0 to 80% in just half an hour, according to the manufacturer. To recharge as quickly, you must connect the compact to a fast terminal, in direct current (DC) of 100 kW. It can be recharged on a Wallbox with the 11 kW alternating current (AC) three-phase on-board charger.

Inside the Opel Astra Electric, there is a digital presentation, with two 10-inch screens, one of which is touch-sensitive. A head-up display is also present, as is natural voice recognition. It should also be noted the presence of ergonomic Active Sport seats which, as an option, can take up Alcantara upholstery. Boot volume is 516 liters in Sports Tourer trim, or 1,553 liters with the rear seats folded down.
- It does not ignore driving aids
The electric Astra comes with driving aids like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, active lane keeping assist, cross traffic alert, drowsiness detection, and semi-automatic way. The car also comes with Intelli-Lux LED Pixel Light adaptive headlights.

The new electric Opel Astra can be ordered from spring 2023. Its price is not specified at the time of writing. Electric motorization obliges, it should be higher than the 40,300€ claimed to afford the Astra in rechargeable hybrid motorization with the most opulent finish.
